3 TV shows guaranteed to make you LOL

I feel like I have a really strange sense of humour. I find things absolutely hilarious and then I show someone and they gawp at me until I awkwardly go “ok then…” and slowly slide my phone into my pocket. Fortunately, I have a few friends who have the same sense of humour as me and amazingly, my boyfriend does too which is just great!

Admittedly, I sometimes laugh at things I probably shouldn’t laugh at and often I’ll laugh at something to then later realise it really wasn’t that funny. But I love my sense of humour, I honestly think it’s one of the only things going for me so I’m going to share with you a few of my favourite TV shows that I’ve had to pause from laughing too much.

Sometimes when you’re having a rubbish week, you just need something to pick you up and put a big smile on your face and if these tv shows don’t then I’m sorry, I don’t know what to suggest…

This Country

Ok so this is my most recent find. I kept seeing clips of this show on BBC Three’s Facebook page and absolutely howling at them so I eventually decided to watch them all on catch up and oh my god, I was not disappointed.

This Country is a comedy exploring the lives of young people in modern rural Britain, focusing on cousins Kerry and Kurtan and their lives in the Cotswolds. The best thing about this show is that it’s filmed like a documentary so you feel like you should be taking it seriously when you first switch it on but you just can’t.

Daisy and Charlie Cooper are siblings off camera and they created the idea for the show. They are so clever and the script for each episode is just unbelievably hilarious! Amazing characters, incredible writing and I can’t recommend it enough!

There are currently two series on iPlayer. Watch it here!

Summer Heights High

Chris Lilley is just a comedy genius. You’ve probably heard of him, he is an Australian comedian and probably best known for his role as Ja’mie private school girl. Summer Heights High focuses on three different characters and the reason I’m including it in this list is purely for his portrayal of “Mr G.”

Mr G is my spirit animal. He is probably one of my favourite characters in a tv show or film… Ever. He is an eccentric drama teacher in a high school who is in constant conflict with the students and staff at the school. Through the show, he is working on a controversial music production with the students and it’s absolutely hilarious.

Chris Lilley can get quite dark with his comedy sometimes but if you enjoy that, this is the show for you! His characters are just incredible and it was recently announced that he’s releasing a new tv show on Netflix and I’m praying it’s a Mr G spin-off!

Here are just a few of my favourite quotes:

“I don’t want you touching my food, and I don’t want to live in your filth.”

“She’s what the kids would call a slut, which is a terrible thing to say about someone who’s just died, but apparently there’s no denying she was one.”

“I think for some kids it’s better that they know now than find out later in life that they’ve got no talent. I always say that they’ll thank me one day.”

If you need some evidence that this show is funny, just watch some of these clips.

The Inbetweeners

Old but GOLD! You just can’t beat a binge-watch of The Inbetweeners. I first discovered this when I was 14/15 and it’s still funny!

I feel like I don’t need to explain this because if you don’t know anything about this show, have you been hiding under a rock?

“British comedy series, where the cringe-inducing humour arises from the ill-fated antics of its four protagonists. Suburban teenage friends Will, Simon, Jay and Neil, students at Rudge Park Comprehensive, attempt to navigate the social scene, attract members of the gentler sex, and saunter among the cool crowd. However, despite their best efforts, the four hapless lads usually end up on the side of the nerds.”

This series was so good it even got two films which were just as funny! Granted, some of Jay’s quotes do make you want to projectile vomit but you can’t help but laugh!

“How long’s my lunch hour?”
“… An hour.”

These three shows have all made me “snort” while laughing, they’ve made me cry from laughing so much and pretty sure on a couple of occasions, I’ve had to pause and run to the toilet to wee from laughing so much! I absolutely love all of them and some of the quotes are just classic! I’ve been recommended The Office which I think I might watch next but if you have any recommendations please tweet me them!

What is your go-to TV show when you just need a good laugh?

When Inbetweeners was popular, I wouldn’t give it the time of day but now I absolutely love it. Only just getting into The Office which I’d highly recommend!

Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it was extremely long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say,
I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything.
Do you have any recommendations for novice blog writers?
    I’d definitely appreciate it. https://iworldcup2018.com
