TAG: “The Splendid Bloggers”

So, the lovely Caroline has tagged me in her brand new bloggers tag and I’m chuffed to bits! It’s so lovely that there are bloggers out there who are actively creating things like blogger tags and Instagram hashtags to maintain the positivity in the blogging community! So shoutout to Caz and be sure to check out her blog! Without further ado…

The Rules:

  • Answer these 6 blogging related questions [see below]
  • Share a blog post you are proud of, don’t forget to link it too so we can read it!
  • Name a blogger you have been loving recently and a little reason as to why!
  • Share a blogger’s Instagram account that everyone needs to follow and again, a little reason why!
  • Tag 5 other bloggers and let’s spread some blogging positivity around!
If you share your post on Twitter/Instagram, don’t forget to hashtag #SplendidBloggers so I can read them all!

Here goes…

1. Why did you start blogging and what was your first post?

I started blogging because I adore writing. I always loved English lessons in school and when I went to college to study Journalism, I did a Creative Writing module and ever since then, my passion for writing has blossomed. I studied Creative Writing at university and as I’ve grown up in the generation of “influencers”, naturally I was drawn to blogging because it was a way for me to express myself and my deepest thoughts through writing!

My first ever post was an incredibly cringe tag where I simply answered questions about myself that nobody cared about so when I moved my blog, I deleted it so my first ever post is now: “11 First Dates You’ll Wish You Thought Of First”

2. Has your blog changed much since you started?

It certainly has! When I first started my blog, my domain name was bloggingamz.co.uk and I was using Blogger. I grew out of that domain name as I started feeling like it was slightly childish so I changed my domain name to amylt.co.uk

I then got tired of using Blogger because I personally found it difficult to navigate so I then moved to WordPress.com which I loved but I still wasn’t 100% happy with the style of my blog so I moved to WordPress.org and went self-hosted and purchased a theme from pipdig and now I am more than happy with my blog! In terms of content, it hasn’t changed at all. I post the same kind of content but I’m posting more regularly now and some posts are more personal which people seem to be enjoying!

3. If you could pick any brand in the world to work/collab with, who would it be?

This is a tough question! It would be amazing if my little blog was noticed enough for brands to actually want to collaborate with me but if I had all the choice in the world, I would have to say Yankee Candle, New Look, Paperchase or Accessorize. Or maybe a selection of cute independent cafes where I could review their tea and cake in exchange for more tea and cake!

4. Who is someone you have become friends with due to blogging?

Unfortunately, I don’t feel like I’ve made any friends from blogging yet. I definitely try to communicate with bloggers through Twitter but I haven’t joined in many chats recently because of work so making blogger friends is something I’m desperate to do in the future! That’s why I’m so excited for the Bleet app!

In a way, I have made friends through blogging because I’m the Lifestyle Editor for The Growing Up Guide and I have a group chat with the other editors and hopefully we will all meet up soon!

5. The one piece of advice you would tell yourself when you first started to blog?

Don’t hesitate to publish something! If you think it’s too personal, people will respect that and will only want to read more from you because you’ve been so open!

6. What are your blogging goals for the next few months?

My main goal is to make a conscious effort to take more photos with my camera. I invested in a camera for my blog and Instagram so I need to read the books I got for Christmas and teach myself how to take photos. I also aim to stick with posting twice a week to try and boost my engagement and following! I’m loving writing more so I have no excuses for posting any less!

My proudest blog post!

The blog post I’m most proud of is “On: Being The Chubby Friend.” This post was difficult to write because it felt like I was speaking directly from my heart. Writing it all down made it feel more real and I think the reception I got from this blog post makes me love it even more because I received the loveliest feedback from people I haven’t heard from in months!

Spreading the blogger love…

I love reading Charlene’s posts. She is so open and true to herself and I find her content super engaging. I also bought her amazing book which is so beautifully written and is totally relatable if you struggle with your mental health. I love reading personal posts because I like relating to bloggers and feeling like I’m not alone.

Spreading the Instagram love…

Here are a few feeds I am LOVING at the moment…

Remember to use the hashtag #SplendidBloggers to see more posts from lovely bloggers. Again, thank you Caroline for creating this tag!

So, I tag – Charlene, Ella, Emmi, Steph & Molly

It’s lovely to read how you got into blogging. I hope the TGUG editors meet up soon, I wanna meet you all. Also, I love personal, honest blog posts and I think a lot of people do. The blogging industry needs more honesty so keep it coming!
